  • Dog nail clippers (never use human scissors).

  • Styptic powder (or cornstarch) for bleeding.

  • Clean towel.

  • Treats to reward your dog.

3. Safe trimming steps

  1. Keep your dog calm: Have them sit or lie on a flat surface.

  2. Identify the quick: In light nails, you can see the pink blood vessel. In dark nails, trim little by little.

  3. Trim gradually: Only cut the curved tip, never too close to the quick.

  4. Reward immediately: Give treats or praise after each cut.
